Our Story
Welcome to Dogtails Mazeppa!
We are Marian Harriet Pretorius and Fanie Pretorius. Dogtails Mazeppa is a family-owned Dachshund breeding kennel based on King Island, Australia. Together with our daughter, Marian Harriet Joubert, and our son and his wife, Johan and Larissa, we are part of Dog Tails King Island Collective.
Every one of our dogs are loved and cared for on our farm. We take great pride in looking after our dogs, ensuring they are well socialised, have quality living conditions and a healthy raw-based diet. We provide puppies with a range of experiences including early neurological stimulation, lots of quality outside play and time with our grandkids. This makes for a calmer dog with a good temperament.
We have a variety of imported bloodlines. Our breeding males and females come in a wide selection of colourations including; dapples, piebald's, creams, chocolates, black and tans, and different combinations of all those colours.
Our dogs are mostly miniature long hairs with a few short hairs. We have also recently begun breeding some wonderful miniature wild boar wire hairs.

Danté
This is Danté. He is a long hair shaded cream carrying chocolate. He is very gentle with a friendly, easy-going personality. He loves to be picked up and snuggled.
Kingsley
This is Kingsley. He is a chocolate and tan piebald long hair mini-dachshund, carrying dilute. He is a very calm and gentle soul. He gets on well with other dogs.
George
This is George. He is a wild boar, wire hair, long hair mini-dachshund. He is a very happy dog, with a spunky personality. Very cheeky. We love him to bits.
Pearl
This is Pearl. She is an EE cream from imported lines. She is friendly and socialises well with other dogs. Pearl enjoys playing in the water on hot days.
Ruby
This is Ruby. She is a black and tan short hair piebald with ticking. Ruby has a lovely playful personality, with a curious nature. She is an excellent mum and looks after her pups well. Her most recent litter was in December 2022.
Kayla
This is Kayla. She is a chocolate long hair mini dachshund. She has a strong personality and loves to be the boss. Her most litter was in December 2022 with Oscar.
Pepper
This is Pepper. She is longhair silver dapple. She is a fantastic mother, very calm and careful with her pups. Her most recent litter was in November 2022.
